Mr. Sunil Dixit

Mr. Dixit is a Decisive, result-focused and action-oriented professional with experience in managing and operation of projects. Identifying the scope of legal frameworks for odour pollution control, joined hands with NORMI Research Foundation to bring about the change and awareness for the cause. He obtained M.Sc. in Environment Science and LLB degree.

He has vast experience in field of Environmental Advocacy & Management. He has spent 26 years in Industrial sector where his work has involved establishment of projects with environmental safeguards. He has worked as Project Director, Associated Alcohols and Breweries ltd.; Executive Director, HSB Agro Pvt. Ltd. and Managing Director, J.M. Enviro Studies Pvt. Ltd. In 2006, he started his own company which provides a wide range of environmental services over various industrial sectors across India. He is one of the pioneers in Environmental laws and Due Diligence.

He has driven by the vision of the public welfare and creating awareness among industrialists. Consulting partner in various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects for the Government of Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. Proficiency in providing consultancy to numerous industrial projects for their CSR head namely Education, Socio- economic development, Public Health and Sanitation.

Mr. P. K. Taneja

Mr. Taneja is a Founder & Chairman of Nationally recognized NABET/QCI accredited Environment Engineering Consultancy, J.M. EnviroNet Pvt. Ltd. since 1993. Passionately involved for overall working of Company and is instrumental in making strategic decisions for Company by overarching responsibility to protect company’s interests and ensure company runs profitably and in a stable fashion. He is Graduated as a Civil Engineer, continuously steering marketing for various verticals of company and business with large scale industrial Corporate Houses. He is a Member of Technical Committee of NABET, Quality Council of India.

He is bestowed with National Award in presence of our then Hon’ble President Shri Pranab Mukherjee for its Laboratory & Environmental Consultancy sector under “Micro & Small Enterprises Services for Outstanding Efforts in Entrepreneurship”. One of the pioneers in environmental engineering into innovative product/ instrumentation & sensor development. As an innovative entrepreneur, working on Desalination of sea water through Water-On-Wheels Development of Indigenous Electronics (E-Nose) for Monitoring of Obnoxious Odourants in collaboration with CDAC, Kolkata; NEERI, Nagpur & IISc, Bengaluru.

Providing Biodegradable Solutions to existing non-biodegradable packaging. Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) Due Diligence, Corporate Environmental Health & Safety Compliance Audit, Corporate Houses and in Indian Railways have been his assets. Continuously working for bringing new environmental innovations, Competent in Management, Innovation and R&D.

Dr. Surendra Yadav

Dr. Yadav is a distinguished professional with a robust academic background and extensive expertise in Environmental Science and Organic Chemistry. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and a Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry, reflecting his strong technical foundation in these fields.nCurrently, he serves as an Odour Expert at a prominent laboratory, where he has amassed over 12 years of experience in laboratory testing and more than 6 years specifically in odour management. His career path has seen him progress from entry-level positions to senior roles across various organizations, demonstrating his comprehensive understanding and leadership in odour management.

Dr. Yadav plays a pivotal role as a Team Leader for a significant pilot project initiated by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) focused on “Development of National Guidelines on Odour Monitoring & Management of Urban Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Landfill Site.” This project underscores his expertise in managing and mitigating odour issues, contributing to national-level guidelines that impact environmental management strategies.

In addition to his leadership responsibilities, he is actively involved in training and developing teams dedicated to odour management, ensuring that new entrants receive comprehensive training to meet the evolving demands of the field. He has trained odour panelists both nationally and internationally, further highlighting his role in advancing odour assessment practices globally. Dr. Yadav’s professional portfolio includes the successful completion of over 30 projects related to odour monitoring at national and international levels. His career is marked by a commitment to excellence in environmental science, particularly in odour management, where his contributions have significantly influenced both regulatory frameworks and industrial practices.

Dr. Sharvari Deshmukh

Dr. Deshmukh has obtained PhD in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. After PhD carried out postdoctoral research work from University de Liege, Belgium extensively on Olfactometers and sensors for odour monitoring. Currently she is working at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur India. She has extensive expertise in the field of sensors, statistical analysis, process optimization and odour monitoring. Proficient in providing R&D based solutions for application of electronics to environment. Currently Principal Investigator of a prestigious project sanctioned by DST. She has several national and international publication & a Patent on her name.

She has expertise in the field of sensors, machine learning (R, SPSS, MINITAB, MATLAB) & process optimization. Awarded with several prestigious awards viz. “Young Women Researcher” 2021, Venus International Women Awards; “DST Inspire Faculty” 2017 by INSA; “Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowship” 2016 by Science and Engineering Research Board, DST, India; “Outstanding Young Researcher” 2010 to 2013 by CSIR- NEERI, India; “Research Associateship, CSIR 2015” and Senior Research Fellowship – CSIR 2012” by Ministry of Science & Technology, India; awarded twice DST Travel Grant to present paper at International Conference in Germany May 2012 and France May 2015.

She has developed indigenous” electronic nose system” for industrial odour monitoring project, part of “Make in India” initiative of government of India. Also trained & applied odour measuring standards EN 13725 and EN 16841-1 and 2 for various on field and off field odour monitoring activities. She has designed and built projects from concept to completion.

Dr. R. A. Pandey

Dr. Pandey has obtained M.Sc. in Chemistry and Ph.D. in Science. He was an Ex-Chief Scientist & Head, Environmental Biotechnology Division CSIR-NEERI, Nagpur. He has worked in NEERI for last 37 years and involved in several R&D activities on environmental issues and rendered consultancy services on environmental management. He has worked in 12 societal mission projects as a team members identified by Honourable Supreme Court of India and submitted Inspection Reports along with recommendations for implementation for different sectors.

His research is basically focused on environment issues and odour problems, ha has published more than 130 research publications in international journals, 27 National Journals, 09 Book Chapter and 06 patent. He has received several national and international award(s) viz. Biotech Research Society of India Fellowship, 2004; National Biotech Award, 2003; AIST Japan Fellowship, 2000; Hiyoshi Think of Ecology Award 2012, Hiyoshi Ecological Services, Hiyoshi Corporation, Japan etc.

Dr. Nabarun Bhattacharyya

Dr. Bhattacharyya is a Senior Director and Centre Head IN Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Kolkata. He has obtained Ph.D in Machine olfaction, electronic systems & advanced communication & software development.

Having 30 years of research experience in system designing, process automation, sensor & sensing system, he has developed following system/solutions:

  • ENOVISION System: Integrated electronic nose (E-Nose) and vision (E-Vision) system for quality monitoring TECHNOLOGY TRANSFERRED
  • E-Tongue System: Electronic tongue for taste characterization of black tea. TECHNOLOGY TRANSFERRED
  • AMMAR: Aroma measurement machine for aromatic rice.
  • Hand held electronic nose (HEN): Hand held electronic nose for quality estimation of in-process (fermentation) and finished tea. TECHNOLOGY TRANSFERRED
  • Obnoxious Odour Prediction System (oops): for measurement of obnoxious odorant concentrations generated from pulp and paper industry.
  • Biosensing System – PesTSCAN and BioSCAN: An instrument based on Enzyme based Biosensing technology for Pesticide detection in Tea and deployed at number of places, including Industry, Tea gardens, R&D institutes and academic institutes.

He has published 9 Books, more than 120 Research Papers & Reports, 20 (Filed) Patents and 03 Granted Patents. He has received several national and international awards such as CSI-Young IT Professional Award 2012 & 2013; The Manthan Award 2011; “The Marquis Who’s Who” 2015; Skoch Order-of-Merit 2015; Best Citizen of India by International Publishing House 2015.

Dr. Manoranjan Hota

Dr. Manoranjan Hota has obtained M.Phil, Ph.D in Environmental Impact Assessment and Toxicology. He worked as an Independent Environmental Expert/Advisor; Former Adviser/Scientist “G”, MoEFCC; Expert Member, Expert Appraisal Committee, MoEFCC; Member, EIA Accreditation Committee of QCI-NABET; Expert Member, OECD Expert Group on Best Available Technology (BAT), Advising Skill Council for Green Jobs; Member, Expert Group for suggesting Improvement in Plastic and Solid Waste Management, Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi; Chairman, Advisory Committee for suggesting management of E-Waste, CPCB, Delhi. He has 38 years of professional experience in field of Environmental Management which include EIA, Pollution Control, Chemicals & Waste management, Sustainability and Environmental Governance, Environmental Health, Environmental Management & Environmental Audit, Policy planning, Research, Life Cycle Assessment, Biosafety, Environmental law enforcement, monitoring and compliance. Professional trainings include Environmental Management & Audit, Impact Assessment in University of Aberdeen in U.K.; Pollution Control training in the University of Ottawa, Managing Global governance at In Went and DIE in Germany, Life Cycle Assessment in UK, etc.

He served as National Project coordinator of the World Bank projects on Pollution Control; Hazardous waste management and implementation of the WHO country programme in Environmental Health in India. He also Managed Bilateral projects of GTZ, NORAD, SIDA on air, water pollution control and hazardous waste management, National implementation of programmes for Mercury management in industries. UNEP Regional Advisor for Biosafety Clearing House for Asia-Pacific Region and has experience of other Multilateral Environment Agreements (MEAs) in chemicals and wastes. Regional Coordinator for Strategic Approach for International Chemicals Management (SAICM) for the Asia-Pacific region and also the Official Focal Point for UNEP for Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Mercury and the Chair, UNEP Asia-Pacific Mercury Storage Porgramme. International experience including as Regional Coordinator for the Asia-Pacific region for Strategic Approach for International Chemicals Management (SAICM); Member, Chemicals Review Committee, UNEP Rotterdam Convention of Prior Informed Consent on international trade of hazardous chemicals; Chair, UNEP Asia-Pacific Mercury Storage Programme Member, UNEP Mercury Global partnership programme and represented India in the UNEP Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee meetings on Mercury and Minamata Convention.

Dr. Karuna Sharma

Dr. Sharma is a highly accomplished professional with extensive qualifications and experience in Environmental Sciences and Zoology. She holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences and an M.Sc. in Zoology, both from Goa University, where she achieved ‘O’ Grade First Rank and received the prestigious Gold Medal. With a career spanning 25 years, Dr. Sharma has excelled in various roles in higher secondary education, management, teaching, and volunteering.

She currently serves as a freelance Environmental Consultant, specializing in Wildlife Biology. Her expertise includes preparing Wildlife Management Plans, conducting Biological Impact Assessment reports, and undertaking Flora and Fauna Inventories. Notably, she has contributed significantly to conservation efforts by setting up a Butterfly Park and developing Biodiversity Plans.

Dr. Sharma’s leadership extends to her role as the Head of LSc100, where she leads a team of teachers. She is particularly dedicated to providing specialized training for students preparing for Pre-Medical entrance exams (such as NEET, JIPMER) and Pre-Engineering exams (including JEE, COMEDK, KLE, MHCET, Manipal, VITEE, SRMJEE), thereby playing a crucial role in shaping future professionals in these fields. Previously, Dr. Sharma served as a Guest Faculty at GIPARD, Goa, where she conducted lectures on Sustainable Development Goals, reflecting her commitment to environmental sustainability and education. Her academic tenure includes the role of Assistant Professor of Zoology at Smt. Parvatibai College, Margao, Goa, where she taught students across FY, SY, and TY BSc levels. Dr. Sharma’s career is characterized by a strong academic foundation, practical expertise in environmental consultancy, and a passion for teaching and mentoring students. Her contributions to wildlife conservation, sustainable development, and higher education underscore her dedication to both academic excellence and environmental stewardship

Dr. Jitendra Yadav

Dr. Jitendra Yadav is a distinguished professional with a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and an M.Sc. in Agriculture, leveraging his extensive expertise in environmental consulting and research. His career is underscored by a strong focus on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Corporate Environment Compliance Audit (CECA), and comprehensive management services related to environmental compliance and sustainability. As an approved EIA coordinator under the NABET/QCI scheme, he plays a pivotal role in various sectors including Mining, Cement Plants, Man-Made Fibres, and Distilleries. His expertise extends to serving as an Area Expert in Air Quality Modelling, Air Pollution Monitoring, Water Pollution, and Soil Conservation, demonstrating a holistic approach to environmental management.

Dr. Yadav’s significant contributions include his involvement as a key expert in a project awarded by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) for the “Development of National Guideline on Odour Monitoring & Management in Urban Municipal Solid Waste Landfill Site,” published in July 2017. This project underscores his leadership in developing crucial guidelines that influence national standards for odour management in urban waste management. His research endeavors focus on the analysis of Environmental Systems, Environmental Impact, and Risk Assessment, as well as Integrated Waste Management. Dr. Yadav has made notable contributions to the application of heuristics in decision-making processes related to environmental management issues, particularly in scenarios involving multi-criteria, multi-objective, and multi-decision makers.

Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to advancing environmental sustainability through research, consulting, and policy development. His expertise and leadership in EIA, compliance auditing, and odour management have not only shaped industry practices but have also contributed significantly to enhancing environmental standards and regulatory frameworks at national levels.
